CovaSolutions to offer its first MBO Seminar at the Galician Institute of Foreign Commerce. - extended news

The CovaSolutions initiative will be offering Galician companies an educational and networking platform aiming to facilitate and promote commerce between Galicia and the United States of America.

We believe that with the right tools and contacts Galician entrepreneurs can bring many success stories back to Galicia and the IGAPE.

Please save the date for Friday March 4th to attend an exciting multi-sectorial business event where legal and financial advice will be provided directly by US based companies specialized in assisting Spanish companies during their expansion abroad.
After the seminar participants will be able to:

Bisila Bokoko - Spain-US Chamber of Commerce NYC


Bisila Bokoko is the Executive Director of The Spain-US Chamber of Commerce located in New York City. The Chamber is a bi-lateral private U.S. non-profit organization with a $1.7 Million budget and a staff of 14 dedicated to fostering trade, investment and institutional relations between Spain and the United States. As Executive Director, Mrs. Bokoko provides day-to-day operational leadership, including supervision of staff across four departments: Foreign Trade, Publications, Events, and Professional Exchange Program

Maria Esther Diz - CovaSolutions Spain><USA

Diz is a cross market consultant at CovaSolutions Spain><US. She provides business support services to Spain-based companies looking to move their busienss operations from Spain to the United States. She focuses on a hands on Business Development strategy and acts as the company's main contact in the target market during the initial stages.

ED is an ALE graduate with Honours from John Moores University, Liverpool (England) and earned her Maitrise at Applied Linguistics to Economics and Law at the University of Aix-Marseille, Aix-en-Provence (France). Since living and working in the United States Maria Esther Diz has dedicated all of her time to better service the needs of Spanish companies and its expatriate teams landing in the US. Diz is a well established member of the US-Spain Chamber of Commerce in NYC and the Spain Trade Commission of Chicago. Maria also participates regularly in Executive Business Management Programs Spain>US offered at the Harvard Faculty Club.


Juan Paredes - Novacaixagalicia Miami

Paredes is an International executive with over 15 years experience in business development and general management, Juan Paredes spent extensive time promoting international clients in new markets and launching and growing new business ventures, amassing a proven track record for identifying new market opportunities, increasing investment portfolios, and managing teams. He was the Director of the IGAPE in NYC and now manages the Novacaixagalicia in Miami.

Jason Balliet - Gamesa Wind US

Jason Balliet is the Director of Product Comercialisation at Gamesa Wind US, a Spanish-based world leading wind turbine manufacturing company. His expertise resides in the Management of cross-cultural, cross-departmental teams of Directors to ensure alignment of corporate and client commercial interests.
Over the past five years JB has acquired practical knowledge developing localized policies and procedures; melding diverse corporate cultures; cooperating and coordinating across national identities and borders; building departments and teams; managing explosive growth; and setting and attaining objectives.
 In addition to a degree in Geological Engineering, JB has an MBA from Villanova University and speaks fluent Spanish.

Jonathan DePriest, Esq. - Chamberlain Law
Jonathan DePriest leads the Spanish practice at Chamberlain Hrdlicka, where he advises Spanish companies on all aspects of establishing and maintaining operations in the United States, as well as on mergers, acquisitions, acquisition finance and ongoing general corporate representation.  His unique perspective as trusted advisor to many Spanish clients over the years provides him with critical insight on how to address the challenges of cross-cultural issues and developing policies that work in the United States and fulfill the needs of corporate management in Spain.
Among other practices, Chamberlain Hrdlicka has a nationally recognized international tax practice that allows Spanish clients to structure their operations with an eye toward managing the future benefits in a tax-efficient manner. 

Joaquin Varela de Limia - IGAPE
Joaquin Varela graduated in Economics from the University of Vigo, later he obtained is graduate degree in Management and Business Administration by Caixanova Business School and the University of Wales specializing in management control.

Joaquin Varela was also a Senior auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers. As a result of his experience as an auditor, the general manager of Igape has a broad and deep knowledge of the business of Galicia, both in the public and private sectore.

Varela will be presenting the IGAPE Global Expansion Plan of subsidies and grants for the year 2011.

Covalingua and CovaSolutions are some of the first companies to join the US Commercial Service new initiative.

ServiceSolutionsUSA promotes the services of US-based firms and economic development agencies to investors in Spain. The directory gives US companies access and exposure to Spanish clients who seek US expertise in accounting, branding, banking, consulting, global logistics, trade finance, insurance, legal, regulatory, site selection, and other needs.

Cova Solutions Conducts Workshop at Chamber on Moving Business Operations Between Spain and U.S.

On October 2, Covalingua and Cova Solutions presented its MBO Program Workshop Moving Business Operations between the US and Spain to members of the US-Spain Chamber of Commerce. The event, which coincided with the televised presidential debate, drew a full house and gathered over 25 NYC-based business people interested in the four modules of the workshop, namely: Knowing Before You Land; Managing Your Expat Employees Before & Upon Arrival; Developing /Adapting Marketing & Communication Strategies and Localization; Training & Retaining Multicultural Human Capital.

Moving Business Operations Between the US and Spain

Introduction to Interpreting Seminar
Date: April 12th -13th, 2008

The Introduction to Interpreting Seminar is entirely about finding out how participants would fit in the Professional Interpreting world. Our 6 hour workshop is designed to identify the skills of those individuals interested in becoming professional interpreters. Our interactive program will give participants the chance to test their natural skills and learn about the different interpreting modes (consecutive, simultaneous...), types (court, medical, escort...), and techniques. The program will also review the ethical, human and confidentiality issues surrounding the interpreting profession.

Covalingua attends the first global meeting of Galician entrepreneurs in Santiago

The Galician Institute of Foreign Commerce (IGAPE) held its first annual meeting for Galician entrepreneurs located worldwide. In recent years the IGAPE incorporated a web portal to facilitate Galician business communication and cooperation between those companies located in Galician soil and those located abroad by entrepreneurs of Galician origin. Covalingua, whose main goal is to empower companies doing business abroad, was there to support the initiative and will continue to be present in future editions.

Covalingua Opens a New Office In Barcelona, Spain

Covalingua goes pa amb tumaca!

Since January 07, Covalingua has a new home in the heart of Barcelona, Spain.

Most of the company’s Project Management and Production Department is now concentrated in Spain where Project Managers work different shifts to adjust to our different time zone operations. We are happy to have increased our team by two members, Pilar Pinilla and Mariah Fike, who started this past March as Translation and Interpreting/ESL SSL Project Managers respectively. Pilar and Mariah bring their own style, skills and expertise to the table.
